Helen's Wedding

The Choir at the Wedding of Helen, one of the Choristers

Beth's Page - January

Happy New Year everybody!

I would like to open this month's article by saying, on behalf of the entire choir, we hope you had a very merry Christmas and that you have a good 2010! Isn't that exciting?

What else can I start with this month other than the Christmas Tree Festival? What a fantastic event it turned out to be. When it was first mentioned at choir that we had a tree to decorate, we were unsure as to how this event would turn out, but when the trees all arrived, the atmosphere really kicked off. Then, when the Christmas tree was set up and ready to go, it looked spectacular! It was a massive choir effort and we are extremely grateful to all those who helped out. However, we must say an even bigger thank you to Eric and Sylvia Cockings and Simon and Catherine Standing who were in charge of the whole procedure and did an amazing job.

Unfortunately, I myself missed the actual opening of the event, but Dickensian Evening, a few days in to the festival, certainly brought in a few people! The choir were battling with the crowds to have a rehearsal! Then, when the time came to sing outside in the square, it decided to hammer it down. The heavens completely opened and poured their contents over Bedford Square, but nevertheless we continued and sang our merry hearts out!

Moving on, I cannot fail to mention that we have all enjoyed the Christmas season immensely. There were several factors contributing to our merriment: the music, the rain and the mulled wine of course! The Christmas Carol Service is always such a wonderful service and the church is brimming. We hope that the amount of people is because of our lovely singing and nerve-wracking solos but you can never be sure!

With love and a happy New Year to all from Beth and the choir.
