The Choir at the Wedding of Helen, one of the Choristers
Beth's Page - November
Hello everybody!
I feel that we should start off this month's issue with one of Sean's jokes! He is famous for them and I shall try and include one every month. However, he is also famous for being unreliable in his good humour, as the basses have discovered all too regularly! So let's put this famous humour to the test:
“There was once an old shopkeeper who was on his death-bed. He was a very popular old man and everyone was gathered around him for his last moments. From where he lay amongst his family and friends, he asked for his wife.
He said, 'My darling wife, my wife of forty years, is she here?'
And she replied, 'Yes, darling, of course. I'm beside you'.
'And what about my daughter, my beautiful daughter, is she here?'
'I'm here, daddy. I'm beside you'.
'And finally, what about my son, my clever, clever son, is he here?'
'I'm here, father. I'm beside you.'
Then after a moment's pause, he said, 'So who's running the shop?'
On to more moist matters. The rain has descended again, as is expected in sunny old Tavistock! However, we did not let it dampen our spirits on 27th September as all the stops were pulled out for a wonderful evening. The choir sang a wonderful array of music chosen by the Reverend Tim himself and it was a very moving experience. We all worked very hard to prepare for this momentous occasion and we congratulate Tim once again. It was one of those events when we really saw the Tavistock community pulling together as a church family. The church was full and the voices were confident. I saw some very wet eyes there as well!
Unfortunately, that is all for this month but I look forward to indulging you in another of Sean's (occasionally funny) jokes. Have a good month and please do not hesitate to contact me with anything that you would like mentioned in next month's issue.
With love from Beth and the choir
